The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra series, slated for launch in the coming months, has been a subject of extensive speculation and excitement. Notable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has hinted at a significant change in the camera setup for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. According to the tip, the device may forego the 10x telephoto camera and instead opt for a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
Interestingly, this change suggests a shift in zoom capabilities, as the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s predecessor featured a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom in addition to the 10x telephoto camera.
Furthermore, Ice Universe disclosed that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to feature an HP2SX image sensor, boasting an impressive resolution of 200MP. This sensor will be accompanied by a 1/1.3-inch sensor size and a 0.6μm pixel size.
Delving deeper into the specifications, the 50MP telephoto camera is expected to house a 1/2.52-inch sensor and 0.7μm pixels for both 3x and 5x zoom capabilities, a setup akin to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s camera. Interestingly, Xiaomi utilizes the same sensor for a 3.2x optical zoom camera, potentially leveling the playing field in terms of zoom performance.
In addition to the potential changes in the camera setup, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, boasting a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and an impressive maximum brightness of up to 2500 nits. The device is also speculated to house a robust 5000mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging and 25W wireless fast charging. Additionally, reports suggest the inclusion of two-way satellite emergency connectivity, enhancing its utility.
Regarding other specifications, earlier reports have hinted at the availability of the Galaxy S24 Ultra in two processor variants: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 chipsets. These processors are expected to be coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage.
